Chemical Resurfacing has been utilized in the aesthetics industry for many years. It is the process of applying acidic chemicals to the surface of the skin to remove the damaged uppermost layers. The acids are specifically formulated to be easily controlled by your aesthetician or doctor. Everyone has heard of anti-aging glycolic acid or the acne fighting salicylic acid. These are Alpha and Beta Hydroxy acids and they can be used in many ways to resurface or heal your skin. You find these ingredients in cleansers, toners, moisturizers and treatment creams. A chemical peel is different in that it is a concentrated percentage of the acid, made to be applied directly to the skin for a period of time. These acids range from very light strength to very strong concentration. For instance, a glycolic chemical peel can be applied to your skin for 3 to 10 minutes and will cause only mild flaking in the days after. Whereas a deep chemical peel such as Salicylic acid or TCA, would be much more intense feeling and result in moderate shedding of your skin. Which peel you choose is dependent upon what you are trying to achieve. Peels can brighten your skin and leave you very smooth and bright. They can also remove years of sun damage, hyperpigmentation, scarring from acne and also help reduce fine lines and wrinkles. The shedding of the skin encourages your skin cells to regenerate, thus causing an increase in collagen and elastin production. In general, chemical peels are a great, cost effective way to clear, smooth and soften your skin. While one treatment is effective, it is ideal to do them in a series of 3 or 6 over a period of months. It is best to stay out of the sun after a peel, so fall and winter are the best times to peel.  I offer all of my peels for a flat fee of $50.

** Special note: I do require that each peel client purchase a post-peel home care kit from Image Skincare (or a single full size) to care for the skin during the peeling phase. I sell my products for cost plus 50% so that everyone can afford professional skincare products. The kits are $20 and will last for 2 weeks or through 2 peels if used correctly.
